The Black Swamp Hosta and Daylily Society was organized in March 1995, and
our membership is currently at 125 gardens. Membership is $10 per
garden per calendar year. Our society meets throughout the year
primarily at the facilities at Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Drive,
Toledo, OH. We have a very full, well-rounded program format with programs
on various subjects by local individuals or well-known national hosta and
daylily speakers, a January dinner meeting, Hosta College in Piqua
sponsored by the Great Lakes Region, spring sale of unique hostas
available to societies at special prices, annual plant sale open to the
public, daylily host program, an accredited hosta show and a
non-accredited hemerocallis show - alternate every other year, tours of
members gardens, a bus trip, Work Days at Toledo Botanical Garden in
conjunction with our ongoing 21st Century project (designing, planting,
updating current beds, documentation of plants in the garden and signage,
with an ultimate goal in 2001 of having Toledo Botanical Garden's Daylily
Crescent beds becoming an accredited display garden of the American
Hemerocallis Society as well as having Toledo Botanical Garden listed in
the American Hosta Society's Garden Book), public daylily auction in
August, a year-end potluck, and an informative newsletter. The BSHDS is
affiliated with the national hosta and daylily societies and information
available on their events is readily available to our members. For

Please mail a check, payable to GCDHS, to our Treasurer: Betsy Detmer, 1562 New London Road, Hamilton, OH 45013. Dues are for each calendar year. The society meets throughout the year at various locations. Programs vary from well known speakers to bus tours, plant exchanges to sales of rare and valuable specimens. We have tours of members' gardens, pot luck lunches and dinner meetings. We put on a Hosta Cut Leaf Show and a Daylily Show during the summer. About every other month you will receive our newsletter containing upcoming events, and informative articles. The GCDHS is affiliated with the daylily and hosta national societies and urges its members to join one or both. Greater Ozarks Hosta Society is located in Southwest Missouri with its primary membership in the Springfield area. Membership is $7.50 per calendar year per family payable to GOHS Suzanne Jeffery Treasurer, 19288 Oasis Dr. Phillipsburg, MO. 65722. Current membership is 140 families. Programs are scheduled throughout the year with well-known guest speakers as well as member presentations. A cut-leaf show, plant auction, member garden tour and plant exchange are sponsored annually. Newsletters are sent five to six times a year. about 65 members, and has two annual meetings a year, April and September. Dues are $5 per

The Mid-South Hosta Society is a non-profit educational organization, formed (October, 1998) exclusively to promote knowledge and interest in hostas, to foster development of new and improved hosta varieties, and to encourage cultivation and usefulness of hostas in the landscape. Annual membership dues are regular ($5.00); family ($7.50); and commercial ($10.00). An informative newsletter, monthly meetings with guest and member speakers, presentations, field trips, a May 8th hosta trade and sale day at the President's home (& gardens), and construction of a hosta walk at the Memphis Botanical Gardens are activities underway or upcoming in 1999.
